HENSEL PHELPS HANDLING CONSTRUCTION OF JMC COMMUNITIES’ SANDPEARL RESORT ON CLEARWATER BEACH
The Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach Expected to Open Early 2007
CLEARWATER BEACH, FL- (2/7/2006) - JMC Communities has hired Hensel Phelps Construction Company as the general contractor of the Sandpearl Resort’s hotel on Clearwater Beach. Hensel Phelps is responsible for the entire construction effort including self-performed and subcontracted work from permitting through the hotel’s opening.
Plans for the Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach call for an eight-story luxury hotel consisting of 193 guest rooms and 50 condo units situated on 400 feet of Gulf of Mexico waterfront. The hotel’s eight floors include the following: Level 1 provides the on-grade parking for approximately 128 automobiles; Level 2, or the Lobby Level, is the hotel’s main entrance and includes a restaurant, ballroom and spa elements; Level 3 is constructed to allow for four meeting rooms, 25 guestrooms, and a presidential unit; Levels 4, 5 and 6 contain the bulk of the hotel guestrooms; and Levels 7 and 8 contain the 50 condo units.
On the gulf side of the hotel and immediately off the sands of the beach, a beachfront pool will be constructed. Adjacent to the pool, and in addition to the primary hotel structure, two existing out-buildings will be remodeled into a beach grill and a hospitality suite. These structures will provide for casual poolside dining and special event usage. A boardwalk will be constructed between these two out-buildings and over the entire length of hotel waterfront as a transition between the beach sands and the landscape and hardscape areas of the pool deck.
